According to Wikipedia, The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is a central government agency of India. Its objective is to collect the biometric and demographic data of residents, store them in a centralized database, and issue a 12-digit unique identity number called Aadhaar to each resident. It is considered the world’s largest national identification number project.”
It’s World’s Largest Data Management Project held by Government of India in 2009. UIDAI is Government of India’s Agency who Collect all the Related data of Indian Citizens.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) was set up by the Government of India in January 2009. The UIDAI is mandated to assign a 12-digit unique identification (UID) number (termed as Aadhaar) to all the residents of India. As per the notification, the UIDAI has been given the responsibility to lay down plan and policies to implement UID scheme, to own and operate the UID database and be responsible for its updating and maintenance on an ongoing basis.
UIDAI is also Called as AADHAR PROJECT. Aadhar is 12 Digit Number that is Randomly Generated by UIDAI Software. there is no Significance of any Numbers in Aadhar Card.
Aadhar card is Very Important and Valid ID Proof given by UIDAI. Aadhar Contains almost Each and Every Information of Users like Name, Date of Birth, Address, Mobile Number, Finger Prints, and Photo.
Why there is a Need of Aadhar Project?
The need for Aadhaar project required after the discovery of fake and duplicate records and non-existent beneficiaries in government’s welfare schemes for the underprivileged citizens.
This was mainly due to poor attempts at verification of demographic and biometric information. The Aadhaar project will address these issues.
